    The results of the advisory referendum/straw vote for the potential centralization of the Clymer and Panama central school districts will be announced in Panama’s auditorium Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, sometime after 8:30 p.m.   

  • Oct. 11 meeting of Clymer, Panama BOEs postponed until Oct. 17

    CLYMER -- The Boards of Education of the Clymer Central School District and Panama Central School District have rescheduled their Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, joint meeting.

    The release of the completed centralization feasibility study for the Clymer and Panama districts has been postponed to allow for a final New York State Education Department review of the study and its findings.

    The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Clymer Student Performance Center and the public is encouraged to attend.

    The purpose of this meeting is to receive the completed centralization feasibility study for the Clymer and Panama Central School Districts. During the meeting, the Boards of Education will formally “receive” the final document and discuss the findings of the study. An informational presentation about the findings of the feasibility study will be held as well as a question-and-answer period.

    After the study is released Oct. 17, each school district will post the study on its website and have several copies available within the community for public review.

  • Clymer, Panama to receive centralization feasibility study at Oct. 11 meeting

     CLYMER – The Boards of Education of Clymer Central School District and Panama Central School District will hold a joint meeting Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Clymer Student Performance Center and the public is encouraged to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to receive the completed centralization feasibility study for the Clymer and Panama Central School Districts.

    During the meeting, the Boards of Education will formally “receive” the final document and discuss the findings of the study written and prepared by Learning Design Associates, a consultant firm selected to conduct the study. An informational presentation about the findings of the feasibility study will be held as well as a question-and-answer period. This study was commissioned as part of the formal process of determining the feasibility of the proposed centralization

    After this meeting, each school district will post the study on its website and have copies available within the communities for public review. Multiple presentations are being planned over the next several months in both the Clymer and Panama school communities.

    Residents of both school communities are encouraged to attend this presentation containing findings and recommendations regarding the proposed centralization of the school districts. Clymer Central School is located at 8672 East Main Street Clymer, New York 14724.

    The centralization feasibility study started last fall with extensive stakeholder engagement. A Feasibility Study Committee comprised of volunteers from the Panama and Clymer school communities also met several times in the spring and summer to help LDA compile information for the study.

    The study will inform the boards of education and school communities about how education could be structured in the school communities. A timeline will also be created by the NYS Education Department outlining the steps, public referendum dates and milestones of the centralization process. 

  • Focus groups discuss feasibility of centralization for Clymer, Panama

    Four focus group meetings that are part of the ongoing centralization feasibility study for the Clymer and Panama central school districts were held Monday, May 8, 2017, in Clymer.

    Students, faculty, the Board of Education and parents each met separately with the study consultants to share their perspectives on possible centralization. The focus group meetings are an opportunity for residents of both districts to participate in the study and the public is encouraged to attend.

    The next focus group meetings are planned in Clymer on Thursday, May 11. Clymer support staff will meet at 4:30 p.m., and booster groups will meet at 7 p.m.

    The next meeting of the Feasibility Study Committee, a group of Clymer and Panama residents selected to work with the study consultants, is set Monday, May 15 in the Panama Central School District. A school walkthrough is at 5:15 p.m. with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. The public is also welcome to attend all meetings of the Feasibility Study Committee.
